Bio
Hey friends, my name is Safrah. I'm a solo artist who loves to explore the spaces where neo-soul and jazz fusion meet, with a good dose of rock and blues thrown in for flavor. While my main focus is my solo work, I also enjoy collaborating with other musicians. I'm grateful to be playing with wonderful touring bands, such as Aqua Cherry and Aquarii.
What first pulled me into the world of music was the feeling of being part of something bigger than myself, like playing in a band. But over time, my real passion blossomed in the realm of songwriting—the sheer creativity of crafting songs. For me, writing music is more than just an artistic exercise; it's my personal outlet. It's how I process my feelings, make sense of my experiences, and share my perspective on the world. For me, songwriting is a way to relate to others and offer moments of understanding and emotional resonance. After all, that’s what music does for me!
My dream is to release as many records as possible, each one showcasing a different facet of my musical personality. While I love the creative process in the studio, there's nothing quite like the energy of a live show. My vision is to create live experiences based on my songwriting that are truly immersive, with a blend of live playing and pre-recorded elements, to build a real connection with my fans. For me, live music creates a special space where people can come together and feel something outside of their everyday routines—a pause in time.
I plan to spend the summer of 2025 touring, so one goal of mine is to get acquainted with the road! During this time, I’ll keep building an audience for my own music. As a solo artist, I plan to release a series of singles that show the different sides of my sound. If you connect with what I do, the best way to support me is by following me on social media and sharing my music. Every bit of traction helps, especially as I'm starting out and building from the ground up.
Nature and love are constant sources of inspiration in my songwriting. Just like the patterns and structures you find in music theory, I see a captivating order in the natural world—the colors, the designs, the way the seasons cycle. Immersing myself in nature sparks ideas and helps me translate those observations into music.
My musical journey has been shaped by so many incredible artists. Professionally, I have immense respect for David Amram. As a listener, I'm inspired by the innovative sounds of Hiatus Kaiyote and the brilliance of Pat Metheny. The harmonic world of Robert Glasper also captivates me. When it comes to vocalists, I'm drawn to the soulful artistry of Lalah Hathaway, Erykah Badu, the timeless power of Etta James. I also love the evocative storytelling of Tracy Chapman.
Separate of my music endeavors, I'm deeply connected to nature. I love hiking, exploring new trails, and simply being outdoors. These experiences often spark new ideas, not just for music, but also for my other artistic passions, like nature photography and sketching. The patterns and colors I observe in nature are a constant source of inspiration for everything I do. You can see my nature photography on my Instagram!
